FACULTY OF ARTS STUDENTS' ASSOCIATION COMMITTEES

A committee is a group of people appointed or elected to perform a specific function or task on behalf of a larger organization or body. Committees are often created to focus on particular issues, to make recommendations, or to make decisions that require specialized knowledge or detailed attention. Members typically collaborate, discuss, and report back to the main body on their findings, proposals, or conclusions.

The Council

The Council is FASA's primary student engagement and outreach organ, composed of representatives from every program of study in the Faculty. The Council helps the Board of Directors make informed decisions regarding students' wants and needs, and help foster communication between students and FASA.

 

Members: All members of the Board of Directors; the President as Chair; each Representative from each department, school or interdisciplinary program.

 

Frequency: Once biweekly, or as needed.

Strategic Planning Committee (STRAT)

The Association Strategic Planning Committee operates under the guidance of the President of FASA, and exists to create and review FASA's long-term strategic goals by developing a plan for the next 3-5 years. This plan consists of concrete projects and feasible goals for FASA's future.

 

Frequency: Once per month, or as needed.

 

Members: The President as Chair; members appointed.

​Sponsorships and Grants Committee (SAGC)

The SAGC works independently to seek out and complete project or grant applications that, if approved, would benefit FASA and its members.

 

Members: President as Chair, VP External, VP Operations and Finance, Director for Application and Grant Development, 1 - 3 additional members of FASA Council

 

Frequency: Once per month, or as needed.

Policy Review & Amendment Committee (PRAC)

PRAC reviews and develops policies pertaining to the operations and governance of FASA as an organization. This includes the FASA's bylaws and the FASA Constitution.

 

Members: VP Operations and Finance as chair, one (1) additional member of the Executive committee, three (3) to four (4) members of FASA Council, two (2) students at large.

 

Frequency: Once weekly, or as needed.

First Year Committee

First Year Committee is dedicated to engaging with first year students, creating programming for them and creating frameworks whereby first years have a connection with FASA from the get-go.

 

Members: The President and VP Events as co-chairs, one (1) additional member of the Executive committee, three (3) to four (4) members of FASA Council, two (2) students at large.

 

Frequency: Bi-weekly, or as needed.

FACULTY OF ARTS STUDENTS' ASSOCIATION WORKING GROUPS

A working group is a collection of individuals brought together to achieve a specific goal, task, or project, typically within a limited timeframe. Working groups often consist of members who have expertise or relevant skills and are convened to collaborate, discuss, and develop solutions or recommendations related to a specific issue.

Arts Undergraduate Research Symposium (AURS) Working Group

AURS is an opportunity for undergraduate student researchers to showcase their research before a panel of professor judges. The AURS Working Group develops judging criteria, screens candidates, works with professors throughout the faculty & works alongside VP Events to plan the event itself.

Frequency: As needed, more frequent in the Winter semester.

Academic and Advisory Working Group

Academic and advisory works on academic initiatives such as the undergraduate research journal, academic support/advocacy, and much more.

Arts Gala Working Group

Arts Gala working group works with VP Events to plan one of our biggest events of the year.
